TWO WORLDS,
ONE PLATE.
Mixplate is a reality cooking show that takes viewers on a culinary journey. Every episode explores two cuisines, with the chef host preparing a one-of-a-kind dish that fuses the best of the two distinct cultures into one recipe.
My visual treatment for the show relies heavily on color-blocking to evoke the duality and fusion of each distinct cuisine, often showcasing two vastly different meals from different cuisines on either side of the color divisions. The use of color-blocking also helps evoke the bright, contrasting colors of buildings that travelers may see in countries like Mexico, India, Portugal, Turkey, and others. The use of bright colors, natural textures, and intricate patterns are indicative of the images one may see in a travel blog — colorful local architecture, organic materials, and intricate ornamentations in decorations and rugs.
Viewers should not feel like this is another cooking show but an opportunity to travel across the world through the rich food cultures that each country has to offer.
